The 27th UNFP Trophy ceremony ended with the long awaited election of the best player of League 1 season. And one year after Edinson Cavani, Neymar wins! With 19 goals and 13 assists in 20 league games, the Brazilian striker managed a smashing entry into the championship of France.
Never had a player received this trophy by playing so little. It is however a little easy to stop at this data and this low play time. Neymar’s coronation does not come from nowhere. The Brazilian has demonstrated lots of skills in its 20 small games in L1 . With his dribbling, his efficiency but especially his influence, he showed that he was from another dimension. It is indeed not a coincidence that it has been presented for years as the third man behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
For its first year in France, Neymar marks its territory: “I am very moved, very happy with our season, I thank my family, my friends, in short, I just want to say that I am very happy, honoured, without my teammates, I would never have received this award. I congratulate Kylian (Mbappe), (Edinson) Cavani and (Florian) Thauvin for the season, it was a great season, thank you all.”
